Library

 

Library and Information Centre is established with the inception of the veterinary college and this is the most important component of education system, without which the aims and objectives of the parent organization can not be achieved .         

 

The Library of College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Udgir is functioning to cater to the literature needs of academic community of this college. The demands of the scientific literature are growing day by day with the inception of new courses in the different disciplines of veterinary and animal science subjects. The educational and research activities of this college have been intensified as the students and academic staff members are continually engaged in the research activities.

 

The demands for literature and information from academic community , researchers and students have compelled to strengthen the library resources and to organize effective service to them.

 

 College Library Policies / plan & their linkage :

 

  1. To collect and preserve up to date veterinary and allied science information in the form of books, journals , reports, conference proceedings , bulletins, booklets, pamphlets, almanacs, maps , atlases, audio visual aids, data base , electronic data base etc.
  2. To establish and strengthen computer networking information system and to develop and maintain the digital information resources,;
  3. To make these resources available to the academic community .;
  4. To help the students , teachers and research workers in retrieval of required information .;
  5. To render effective and efficient library services to readers to achieve the objectives of the parent institute.

 

Establishment &  Functioning of  Library of the college :
College library is been established with the inception of the veterinary college. Library offers Membership to following categories                                                        
1.Academic, Ministerial and other staff under the control of the Associate Dean of this College.
2.Students Registered for admission in this College.
3.The Library membership shall  also be given to others members at the discretion of the Librarian  by the recommendation of the Associate Dean of this college and  under the guarantee of the academic staff of this college against the Non-Refundable library fees in cash  of Rs.150/- . These special category of the readers should  submit the recommendation letter from concerned college.    

Procedure for Library Membership :
 1.Students shall assign the membership after receipt of theRegistration List  from the Academic Cell of this college.
2.Student has to enroll as reader as per the procedure of the library.Students and the Staff members has to fill up a Membership Form of the library.
3.The Staff members shall submit their application form through theAssociate Dean.
4.Each member shall sign on the  register kept at the entrance of the library in the token of his/her acceptance to adhere to the rules and regulations of  the library.
6.Students shall submit their Identity Card  on demand .
       
Library space and Building:
The Library is currently shifted to Multipurpose Block with the following area

1.Reading hall ( Students)                 : Size       800 sq ft.

3.Computer Internet Room              :                700 sq.ft.

5.Old office converted to 6 reading
  cubicles for staff & PG students    :    800 sq ft.
6.Stack Room                                   :       1000 sq.ft.
7.Librarian’s Room/                       :       300 sq.ft.
8.Circulation counter                     :       120 sq.ft.
9.Total carpet area of library        :       3720 sq.ft.

3.The Scientific Periodicals, rare  books , out of print books, reprints , microfilms,Floppies, CDs, Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, almanacs, Directories, Yearbooks, Reports, pamphlets, bulletins, Small books , newspapers, bound back volumes of periodicals shall not be issued out of library and they can be consulted in library only.

Computer and access to internet :
Since 30 June 2005 , the Library has been connected with world web, currently library holds total 10 computer desktops out of which 8 computers are been used for e-library.
An independent Internet Service Unit has been established in library . The Internet Connectivity has been provided for the students with existing computers with BSNL BROAD BAND Since October 2008.
E-Library has been established in college new building  from the ICAR Development grants during the year 2011-12 .

Library opening and closing time at college campus :
Working Hours:
The library shall function in the following hours unless and until specified by the librarian :
       On all days (Except 2nd ,4th  Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays) : 9.00 to 13.00& 14.00 to 17.45

Digitization Of thesis :

 

Digitization of all thesis available at library up 2010 is completed

 

 

 

e-learning :e-learning facility is been provided to students through intranet.

 

CeRA :Facility of CeRA is been provided to students through E-Library established in college new building from the ICAR Development grants.
